Yeah..Sun X Bear are expecting babies.

We just got a positive pregnancy test on Sun. We are expecting babies in all three colors.  They should be lighter yellows as well. Here is a picture of the test. I am soo excited. This will be Sun's first litter. She has been sleeping alot and loves her Kuranda bed..but it has to have a poofy padded dog bed on top of it or else she won't sleep on it..

We have kept back Purple girl from the Splash x Salty litter and we are naming her Maya. Watch her grow up on our website. We have high hopes for her and hope to get her in the show ring in months/years to come.  Here she is approx 7 weeks old.

5 Week Birthday

First, Let me start off by apologizing for not posting sooner. I have been having a time trying to log onto the blog to post, they did a merger with this blog and some other online items and my password wasn't working and I kept trying, so finally I got on today.

Yesterday was the babies 5 week birthday. It was our first day outside and some of the babies were a little unsure at first but they they were all running around barking and smelling the fresh (VERY WINDY) air.
We have ordered the babies shots so they will get here this weekend. I cannot get over how fast they are all growing. We finally moved the babies out to the living room on Sunday and I can honestly say that is the longest any litter stayed in our bedroom. They typically get a bit rowdy approx 3AM, just when you are in that nice deep sleep and then Wrestle Mania 9000 begins. We are trying to find some cool Halloween costumes for the babies for some cute pictures.

Puppies had their first taste of pumpkin yesterday, some may have seen it on the webcam, they absolutely loved it.

They are all still trying to get used to the water bottle, it is a funny sight when they first learn how to use it. UMM maybe I should chew on the weird metal thing, no let me lick the glass. They will get it soon. I don't like leaving water bowls down at the bottom of the duplex as it is not very sanitary with 8 pups all trying to step in it, then they try to swim and finally the dump ALL the water out, but for now I have to keep putting some water bowls in there for them. Pups are now not relying on mom as much and looking forward to their "big boy/big girl" food. Splash is just the best mom, the last few times I put her with the babies, she decided she was a bird and offered her food to them. I informed Splash that the babies are just fine and they are very well fed.

Here are a few pics I snapped of the babies tonight after they were fed and once again had their big trip outside. I was sitting with them and some of them ventured a bit further than yesterday. Hopefully it will get cooler soon so we can enjoy more outside time with them. It is just too hot during the day right now.

Happy 4 week Birthday!!

So the puppies are 4 weeks old today. I cannot believe how fast time is flying. I recorded a short video I posted on the website, hopefully everyone enjoyed it, there will be many more videos to come. These pups are amazing, they are starting to get up and around and believe it or not they are still 2 feet from my bed..They are very quiet babies, well sometimes they get a bit hot and then they complain a bit. Tonight I put a litter box in of cedar to see if I can try a different approach to my cedar introduction, but they just seem to what to chew on the sides for right now..then again it as only been 10 minutes since I put in there...I have their food soaking so maybe they are trying to tell me something....Mommy feed us!!! They are so cute..
Now comes the hard work for Momma Laura. Splash isn't wanting to stay in her box with the babies as much but then again she has done very well and she is a great mommy.

Sorry it has been a bit since we have posted, but Gary has been down with a major illness where he wasn't able to get up and around for days, so I was holding down the fort so to speak for days and I just didn't have the time to post. Yesterday was the puppies 3 week birthday and they are all doing so great. For their birthday I gave them a little bit of baby food...THEY loved it...I will post up some of those pictures for everyone to see their first meal. If you have been watching the webcam we moved the family over to their half duplex now which gives them more room to move around since they are now running and playing. The flooring is still their mats for now, but once we get them on their food and not relying 100% on mom, we will start putting cedar shavings down. They is normally done around 4 1/2 - 5 weeks old depending on when they are switched to regular food, but Momma Splash is still nursing them and doing just fine. They have slowed down on their weight gain but that is to be expected since they are up and burning more calories. If you have noticed the 4 legs in the background of the camera, that is mom's elevated food and water bowl so we can keep water and food in there constantly so she can eat and drink (and boy does she LOVE to drink water=milk). This prevents the puppies accidentally getting in the water bowl and not being able to get out. (NOT GOOD) The pups are now starting to hear my voice and bark and whine to try to find me..They are quite the bunch!! Gorgeous, sweet, laid back and they LOVE music! We play our Satellite Radio for them and they don't seem to mind a bit..esp the 70's and 80's.

Sorry I couldn't resist..we are getting so close to Halloween, I am trying to find outfits for the babies and then I found the baby dress. PURPLE girl was posing for the camera..I thought the pic turned out great..let me know what you think..  ")

Another First..Babies were Dewormed today...

Okay the babies were supposed to be dewormed yesterday per my normal schedule (their 2 week birthday), but we had our 2 legged babies home sick from school...
So we had such an adventure during the deworming, weighing and nail trimming today. Momma Laura was poopied on and peed on...Yes it happens every litter and I make sure to note that on their chart, Gary gets a kick out of it every time...he says Ya know they just love you Momma Laura..

Babies got their deworming medication, their weights done and their nails trimmed again..boy their nails grow really fast at this age. We had two fatties fall asleep in the scale tonight, as I said you have to have the camera on hand, b/c they fall asleep in the cutest positions. Hope you are enjoying the new pics we just uploaded as well as the webcam...Tomorrow is my birthday, so hopefully Daddy Gary will remember!!!  :) Then again he is cooking a GREAT dinner for us tonight!! Happy 2 week Birthday!!!

Today are the babies 2 week birthday...pups are growing in leaps and bounds and are doing great. For those that watch the webcam often..I think you have noticed that the babies are trying to find their legs. They are getting up and "trying" to walk around. It is sooo cute to watch and I just told Gary.."let the games begin" they will be off and running soon. So far they haven't opened their eyes and they can't hear just yet, but the know the INSTANT mommy is back in with them. They all get up and smell around and then hit the "milk bar" The puppies are so secure and happy with the world, almost everytime I look down (keeping in mind that is at least 10 times an hour) there is a baby on their back, which makes me so happy, this means they are very socialized and yes we do touch and handle the babies daily, some of which fall asleep in my arms as I am doing work during the day...

Updates for over the weekend and today 09/28/10

Sorry it has been a few days since an update...we have all being doing great and gaining lots of weight. I am sure everyone can tell we have been getting our "milk" bellies now!!! :)   They all know and can sense immediately when mommy goes back in her "box". She does like to get her break now and then and goes and lays on the tile right next to the box, but as soon as she hears a baby crying she goes right back in.  Mom is doing a great job of keeping them clean and very happy. We still keep having to loosen their collars as they are gaining weight and getting so big..It is so funny to watch them having their puppy dreams. Gary and I look at them and we just comment on how gorgeous and happy the babies are...When the web cam is on. I watch it all the time. Now keep in mind they are only 2 feet from my side of the bed. I can't seem to get any work done when we have the webcam on.  We had our first nail triming on Saturday and boy do they get sharp really fast and we have to make sure they are nice and short. If they get too sharp, they can hurt mommy while they are nursing.

Puppies are resting well now after their "big" day

We just got back from the vet a few minutes ago. They were all sleeping the entire way home. The vet absolutely loves them and couldn't get over how healthy they all were and how FAT. They are back home now and nursing, although some are still sleeping. Okay so no sooner did I type that last sentence, they all woke up to crawl towards the "milk bar". Mommy missed them alot and she was happy when they got back home and cleaned them all up. Here is a picture of all of them right before we brought them into the vet, they barely all fit in the laundry basket..the little "BUTTER BALLS.. Hope everyone is enjoying the blog and the webcam. Everyone is doing great and we have had the webcam up and running

We did our daily weighing today and they are gaining sooo fast that I have to keep loosening their collars. They are getting their pigment in already, I cannot believe it as it is so early, we are only 3 days old and it is already coming in. Tomorrow we are getting our dew claws removed and the trip to the vet will be their first big adventure, well of course their true first "BIG" adventure was being born. Our web cam has been up and running for the past few days and we have had quite a few visitors. Splash is doing a great job of keeping them very clean, happy and healthy. She is a GREAT MOM. Pups just had their first video taken and we uploaded it to youtube.com, I will embed it to my website tomorrow for everyone to see. Can you believe that I actually slept through the night. Normally with babies this young, they keep me up squealing by either being mushed or can't find the "milk bar". I am very confident the puppies know EXACTLY where their "milk bar" is. We will make sure we put the webcam up for as long as possible each day so everyone can see the babies growing.  Talk about being a secure pup!! Ms. White decided she is okay with the world..it is so funny the positions you catch the puppies in. That is why we have to keep our camera ready at all times!!

Updates 09/22/2010

Everyone slept great and I actually got some sleep, all puppies are doing great and I have already had to loosen all their collars they are all getting so big and plump. We are going to get the webcam up and running later today.

Sorry I didn't post until just now, it was a very long and tiring few days. Splash was in labor for almost 17 hours. Our final count is 5 girls and 3 boys. Webcam and pics will be on very shortly.

Splash is Whelping

She started active labor around 4AM, first puppy was born at 5:10, she has had 7 pups so far, we think there are 4 more to go..yes a HUGE litter..she is absolutely exhaused right now.

Quiet Morning but.....

Momma Splash has been sleeping most of the morning as she has been for the past few days. This afternoon she is looking a bit more uncomfortable. It looks like she may be having some slight contractions, she isn't in active labor, but she isn't sleeping as sound and she keeps trying to get comfortable. I think it is going to be a LONG night...Thanks goodness I got to sleep in this morning.

I think it will be a quiet night tonight...

Momma Splash it totally comfortable right now and I don't think we will be whelping out pups tonight, but I have been fooled before, her official due date is tomorrow 09/19/10, I have been on pins and needles for days...she gave me a little bit of a scare on Friday due to her panting and the fact that she wanted to stay in her box for almost the entire day, but no...I guess she wanted to make sure I was ready...LOL..I did take an xray of the babies, I would like to see what everyones guess is of the official puppy count...

No new Temp changes.

I thought for sure she was going to whelp yesterday but she stalled out all day today..she doesn't have much kick in her step at all, she is only picking at her food, she is absolutely HUGE!! Her temp was at 100.7 just now, but we have turned off the air, believe it or not, we have a gorgeous breeze coming in and we are really looking forward to fall.

Waiting for the Babies to come...

Well it is around 6:30PM and Splash is resting well on the cool tile. It is time to take her temp again in a few minutes. She has her whelping box all ready and she keeps going in and out. Guess I should get some shut eye before the babies come, b/c the first week or so, we don't get much sleep.
