Puppies arrived on 4th of July

Copper and Cronus welcomed 7 gorgeous puppies just over a week ago.  Babies are doing extremely well and they are actually letting me sleep at night. They had their dewclaws removed on Friday and the vet absolutely loved them. We find it soo funny when the are already laying on their back, they are already secure and very very well fed!!

Chocolate Puppies arriving Soon

Copper is expecting anyday now. She is really starting to get large. She isn't a big girl to begin with, she is rather short :). We are expecting a big litter and this will be Copper's 2nd litter. Her first litter was many years ago, hope she remembers how to take care of the babies. We are very excited about this litter and expect these puppies to be gorgeous and very laid back.

Updates 07/02/2011 on the Ashes X Caspar Litter

Some of Ashes' puppies went home today. I cannot believe they are already 8 weeks old. The yellow boy is going home in a few days and I am looking for a home for the yellow girl. She is sooo sweet and very outgoing. Literally has to be by you at all times. She will be on the smaller side, but you can't tell her that.

Chocolate Puppies are arriving

We are proud to announce that we are expecting 2 litters of chocolate puppies. Our girl Luna and Copper are expecting. Luna is due at the end of June and Copper is due beginning of July. The sire of both litters is our gorgeous boy Cronus. We can't wait for these puppies! Watch the blog for more updates as we get closer to the girls whelping.

Updates...Both Good and Not soo Good...

Momma Sun is doing great and is recovery very well from surgery. She has taken to the babies and is cleaning them and her milk has come in very nice. Puppies are learning her smell and are starting to know when she is around. Puppies are going in for their dew claw removals tonight and mommy is getting her follow up check up.  Now the part comes when you have to take the good with the bad. We had a baby chocolate boy that got his angel wings this afternoon. Everyone was doing fine last night and then when we woke up this morning. I noticed he was just laying next to mommy's head and she was cleaning him he wasn't moving much. I moved him over to mommy to see if he would nurse, he just kept spitting out mom's boob. I noticed he was a bit dehydrated and felt a little cool. So I gave him some fluids and put him in the warming basket..he rested up for a bit and then I put him back on mom..he nursed for just a bit then he fell asleep..gave him some more fluids to help him turn the corner and but him back in the warming basket...I kept checking on him and he didn't seem to warm up...so I came back 5 minutes later and he wasn't with us anymore..This just breaks my heart that we had to say goodbye soo soon...he will leave a special place in our hearts..It isn't often that we loose babies, but sometimes it does happen and it never becomes easier..

Well Momma Sun is expecting 10-12 babies...

We just did her xray yesterday and the vet think she has at least 10 babies...but I think she may have 1 or 2 more in there...so we have been taking her temp every 2-3 hours to see when she will be having her temp drop...We need to watch her to make sure she doesn't start whelping before the weekend..we have called both of our vets and 1 said they will be on call for us this weekend..hoping she will last over the weekend so in case we have any problems we won't have to go to the emergency vet...so far she hasn't  had a temp drop..she is only nibbling on food but she is drinking very well..

Updates on the girls

Not much happening with Sun other than ALOT of sleeping. She can't seem to get comfortable. She keeps getting up and down off her Kuranda bed, then down back on the cool tile. Her belly is starting to get big which is kinda surprising b/c of what a big girl she is, normally when they are "big boned" girls they don't typically start getting their baby belly this early..sooo hopefully she will have a decent sized litter with nice sized babies. Here is a picture of her on her bed as well as some baby pics of her and some when she was at her first AKC show in Vero Beach. We will be testing Luna and Libby in the next few days. Crossing my fingers, their nipples haven't pinked up yet so hoping they are...
