Happy Saturday everyone..

Pups are doing great and I just weighed them again and they are all over 3 1/2 lbs some are up in the 3 lbs 10 oz range..Their weight gain will start slowing down as they are up and more mobile. We have changed the flooring in their box to more of a fleece type material so they can get used to different feels on the baby feet.  They are starting to get interested in what mom is eating and drinking..So I sat in the box with them today and showed each one what a little bit of water is some lapped a couple times, a couple decided it was fun to try to snorkel...others just smelt it and laid back down. They are getting hot during the day the past couple of days b/c it is almost 80 degrees and they haven't learned how to pant at this age..Sometimes depending on how hot they get we either put them on the cool tile and they "frog dog" it or we add some nice ice packs wrapped in washclothes so we they can sleep on the packs. There ears are now all open and when they hear a loud part in the movie they start barking and looking around. They know exactly when mom is back in the box and they all run to her and nurse. They are now starting to bite (well gum) each other and starting to growl. The fun is just now beginning. The webcam will be on tonight for a little while...

Bailey our daughter helped take pics (she is holding them) of the butterball turkeys tonight some don't have their eyes fully open as of yet. They are all so sweet...some may need to get on the treadmill soon :) Notice the head fat on some!!  Pups are going to be wormed tonight as well as Momma...Hope everyone enjoys their first "head" shots..

We have babies with their eyes open!!! Last night we weighed them they are all around 3 POUNDS...they are getting to big...We trimmed their nails and they all did great..They are trying to find their legs and getting up and moving around a bit. We are going to get some head shots now so everyone can see their gorgeous faces.

We  have pups on the webcam tonight...we will try to have it on as much as possible now as the fun is just beginning. They still don't have their eyes open as of yet, but they are trying to just now find their legs. I will be trimming their nails again tonight as well as weighing them again..I am going to get some individual pics as well to post..Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Pups are 1 week old today...

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile..I have been busy with kids and tons of preparation for Christmas for our kids. I will try to get some cute photos of the babies for their 1 week birthday...Pups are doing very well and gaining alot of weight. Mom is doing a great job of keeping them clean. I am gonna have the webcam on in the next few days..  :)

Here they all are..Ms. Purple joined us last... We weighed all the pups last night and they all gained at least an ounces some as much as 2 1/2 ounces, which is great b/c the first 24 hours some loose weight...We are going in to have their dew claws removed tonight around 5PM so it is another big adventure for them. Mom is doing absolutely wonderful and keeping them all cleaned and obviously fed...Another super quiet night,  no puppies were fussing and mom was sleeping very well...Until next update.......

Well the total count is 6 babies..

I thought she had more but it doesn't look like it. We all feel asleep about 11PM. I was constantly rolling over to check on the babies. They all were very quiet last night and nursed and slept well. So once I get a little more sleep, I will get a pic of all the babies since Ms. Purple came around 5:30 yesterday, I haven't taken a new photo. All the blinds in my bedroom are all still closed and it is really nice and dark in here so momma can feel secure and safe and she can get some more rest as well.

After almost a 3 hour break we have another girl..

So far the count is 3 boys/3 girls...smallest so far is 15 1/2 ounces...These pups are real BUTTERBALLS!! I bet she still has 1 or more in there still..she still looks big..My poor back...OMG..LABor of Love it truly is..  Can you say pizza for dinner..well for the 2 legged peeps in our family not the 4 legged fury kids..No cooking in our house tonight.. LOL

Momma has already had 2 HUGE scoops of her organic vanilla ice creme to get her some calcium to keep her contractions going as well and it serves to keep her energy up from the glucose. She has eaten some food with some added chicken broth as well..Right now she is resting again..

We are sitting here in a bad lightning storm..hoping our electric doesn't go off so the heating pad and the heat lamp stay on to keep them warm..Until next update..

You guys are lucky and so am I...My girls NEVER whelp during the day..which means I don't have enough energy to take pictures...so I rarely get this many pics when they are soooo new...

Getting our whelping box all set up

Just sent Gary out to get the new pool as I always use a pool when whelping so it is easier for me to get to Momma and the babies. Then after a couple of days to a week, the family is moved to a larger whelping box.

Got a fetal doppler the other day and it was sooo cool I heard of of the babies heartbeats so I will use that to check on the babies once she starts whelping.

Gonna be busy for me the next week or so. Sun just came in heat and just pulled her blood to run up to the vet to get her numbers for her progesterone..

Going to try to start blogging again..

It has been over a year now since I have blogged and will try to start doing it again especially to keep the families of the particular litter that we have updated. As the Facebook page is great, there are some people that I do not know personally and feel that some items are best to be shared with my Mythic Families.
